Agartala, 29th August 2025: A tragic accident took place early this morning at Kumarghat Railway Station in Unakoti district, where a 27-year-old man was fatally struck by a freight train.
The deceased has been identified as Bikash Debnath, son of the late Dinesh Debnath, a resident of Sukantanagar Ward No. 3, located adjacent to the railway station. Eyewitnesses reported that Bikash sustained critical injuries after being hit by the train and succumbed to them on the spot.
Railway Police and Government Railway Police (GRP) arrived promptly at the scene and recovered the body, which was later sent to Dharmanagar for post-mortem examination.
Local residents shared that Bikash worked as a laborer and had participated in Mansa Puja celebrations at his home just the day before. Several other religious festivities were also underway in the neighborhood at the time of the incident.
