Tripura’s Dr. Mrinal Kanti Pandit Honored at International Literary Festival in Kolkata

Agartala, 30th August 2025:   Renowned poet and writer Dr. Mrinal Kanti Pandit from Tripura was honored on an international stage during the “Mega International Literary and Cultural Festival 2024–2025,” held at Ramakrishna Mancha, located within Swami Vivekananda’s ancestral home in Kolkata on August 03 last. The event was organized by the National Prakashan Trust, commemorated the 125th birth anniversary of the iconic rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

The festival commenced with traditional conch blowing and sacred chants led by Swami Mahaprajnanandaji Maharaj, President of Belur Math and Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir. Former West Bengal Governor and retired Chief Justice of the Calcutta and Allahabad High Courts, Shyamal Kumar Sen, served as the chief guest.

The event was attended by Padmashri Dr. Surya Hazarika, an acclaimed writer and former President of the Assam Sahitya Sabha; Professor Md. Alikhan Chowdhury Manik, Principal of Bangabandhu Mahavidyalaya in Bangladesh; Md. Manna Rayhan, a freedom fighter and journalist from Bangladesh; Manoj Vyas, a singer and translator from Rajasthan; and Dr. Mrinal Kanti Pandit, a celebrated poet and writer from Tripura.

One of the event’s highlights was the “Nazrul Memorial International Award” ceremony. Nagathihalli Ramesh, a multifaceted personality from Karnataka, was conferred the award, which included Rs 1 lakh, a citation, crest, shawl, and medal. The honor was jointly presented by Shyamal Kumar Sen and Swami Mahaprajnanandaji Maharaj.

All invited dignitaries were felicitated with honorary citations and shawls. Among them, Dr. Mrinal Kanti Pandit’s recognition stood out, marking a proud moment for Tripura’s literary community and underscoring his contributions to Indian literature.

The cultural segment featured performances by artists from across regions, with each participant receiving formal acknowledgment. The program opened with a group song led by Nazrul researcher and singer Dr. Deepa Das.

The event was curated and managed by Shaktimoy Das, founder-editor of the National Sahitya Prakashan Trust.

Dr. Pandit’s international recognition adds a distinguished chapter to his literary journey, reinforcing his role as a cultural ambassador and a source of pride for Tripura.
