BSF, Customs seizes gold worth Rs 1. 59 crore

Agartala, 21st September 2025 :  In a major anti-smuggling operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Customs Preventive Force seized gold worth approximately Rs. 1.59 crore on the night of 20 September in Sepahijala district.

Acting on specific intelligence, BSF personnel from Border Outpost N C Nagar, under Sector Headquarters Gokulnagar, conducted a joint operation with the Customs Preventive Force, Sonamura, around 11:15 PM. The operation resulted in the recovery of 12 gold biscuits, weighing about 1.39 kg, from the residence of an Indian villager in N C Nagar, under Sonamura police station.

In a statement, the BSF said the seizure highlights the strong coordination between the force and other law enforcement agencies in preventing cross-border smuggling and safeguarding national security.

Officials added that such joint efforts demonstrate the commitment of security forces to combat illegal trafficking and protect the country’s economic interests.
