Agartala, 15th October 2025: Tripura has unveiled seven major tourism projects worth over ₹500 crore during the National Tourism Ministers’ Conference in Rajasthan today.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the initiatives aim to transform Tripura into a leading destination in the North East, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for the state’s progress since 2018.
Tripura ranked second in foreign tourist footfall among North Eastern states, according to the Ministry of Tourism. With nearly two-thirds of its land under forest cover, the state plans to emphasize eco-tourism and sustainable development.
Tourism Secretary U.K. Chakma said key destinations—Ujjayanta Palace, Neermahal, Unakoti, Tripura Sundari Temple, Chabimura, Dumboor Lake, and Jampui Hills—will see major upgrades. The proposed projects include an adventure and eco-park at Sachindranagar, an adventure park at Mohanpur, a replica of the 51 Shakti Peethas at Udaipur, infrastructure upgrades at Chabimura and Unakoti, waterfront development in Amarpur, and a new entrepreneurship scheme, Paryatan Sahayak Prakalp.
Tripura recorded a 64% rise in domestic tourists to 6.01 lakh and a 36% increase in foreign visitors to 91,000 between 2023 and 2024, signaling growing confidence in the state as a safe and sustainable travel destination.
