Agartala, 3rd November 2025:   A man impersonating an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer was arrested in Lucknow for allegedly attempting to meet Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at a five-star hotel under false pretenses. The incident, which occurred on October 30, has drawn national attention following reports published today.

Police sources informed that the accused has been identified as Prashant Mohan, a Delhi-based UPSC coach. Mohan allegedly booked a room at the Marriott Hotel in Lucknow, claiming to be a revenue official and a relative of the city’s police commissioner. His stated intention was to meet the Tripura Chief Minister, who was staying at the same hotel.

Security personnel attached to the Chief Minister reportedly grew suspicious of Mohan’s behavior and alerted the local police. By the time officers arrived the following day, Mohan had already checked out. However, he was swiftly located and arrested in the vicinity of the hotel.

Hotel staff noted that Mohan’s vehicle was equipped with red and blue beacon lights, further raising doubts about his claimed government affiliation. His driver reportedly fled the scene with the vehicle.

Upon arrest, Mohan theatrically clutched his chest, feigning a heart attack. He was immediately taken to Lohia Institute, where doctors confirmed he was in good health. He was then brought to the police station for questioning.

During interrogation, Mohan admitted to fabricating identity documents to gain access to influential individuals and VIPs, often photographing himself with them for personal use. “I enjoy meeting important people,” he reportedly told investigators.

Police have taken Mohan into custody and are probing his criminal background and possible accomplices. Authorities are also investigating whether he has carried out similar impersonation schemes elsewhere.
