Agartala, 6th November 2025: A month-long comprehensive training programme on Natural Farming for registered farmers of West Tripura district concluded on November 4, marking a significant step toward promoting sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices in the region.
The training was organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Tripura, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, under the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) scheme. The initiative, which commenced on October 14, 2025, covered all seven agricultural subdivisions of the district- Mohanpur, Old Agartala, Dukli, Bamutia, Mandai, Belbari and Jirania, and successfully trained more than 1,000 registered natural farmers.
Designed as a blend of theoretical sessions and practical demonstrations, the programme provided participants with hands-on experience in preparing and applying key natural farming inputs such as Beejamrit, Jeevamrit, Ghanjeevamrit, Neemastra, Agniastra, and Bramhastro. Farmers were guided through the processes of formulation and field-level use of these eco-friendly bio-inputs, enabling them to adopt cost-effective and sustainable methods on their farms.
The training was coordinated by Dr. Mandira Chakraborti, SMS (Agronomy), and Dr. M.C. Nagaraju, SMS (Agricultural Entomology), under the overall guidance of Dr. Ganesh Das, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK West Tripura.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Das emphasized that the training aligns with the national mission’s goal of reducing dependency on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which have detrimental effects on soil health and the environment. He noted that adopting natural farming practices would help farmers improve soil fertility, enhance crop yield and quality, and strengthen resilience against climate variability.
Natural farming is steadily gaining ground across India as farmers witness the long-term benefits of soil regeneration, lower input costs, and healthier produce. Through such initiatives, KVK West Tripura continues to empower local farmers to move towards sustainable, economically viable, and environmentally responsible agriculture.
