Agartala, 1st December 2025:     Tension gripped West Khupilong in Udaipur today after the Anganwadi Kendra was locked by its land donor Amar Debnath and his family.

Debnath, a resident of West Khupilong had donated his land years back for the establishment of the Anganwadi Kendra so that local children could pursue early education.

Locals, leaders and even the area’s legislator had assured Debnath that his daughter-in-law Sampa Debnath would be appointed to a job at the Kendra.

However, despite repeated assurances, the position was reportedly given to another candidate. Alleging betrayal, Amar Debnath and his family gathered at the centre on Monday morning and locked its gates.

The family has set a condition: either Sampa Debnath must be appointed to the promised job, or the land should be returned to them.

As a result of the closure, dozens of children were unable to attend classes, leaving parents in the locality deeply concerned.
