Awareness drive on “VB GRAM G” organized by KVK Unakoti

Agartala, 4th January 2026:    Unakoti District’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) organized an awareness program on VB GRAM G at the Shrirampur Community Hall today. The event was part of a three-day campaign, with the second day drawing large participation from farmers and women cultivators across Shrirampur, Chandipur, and Halaipar Gram Panchayat areas.

The program was attended by Bimal Kar, Chairman of the Social Justice Standing Committee of Unakoti Zilla Parishad; Shyamal Das, Chairman of the Agriculture Standing Committee; Amori Das, Pradhan of Shrirampur Gram Panchayat; Ratan Das, Pradhan of Halaipar Gram Panchayat; subject experts Sumen Kapali (Plant Protection) and Ripon Chandra Das (Agronomy) from KVK Unakoti; along with Senior Scientist and Head Dr. Jayashree Dutta.

In her inaugural address, Dr. Datta emphasized that the Government of India has entrusted KVKs with the responsibility of spreading grassroots awareness about VB GRAM G. She noted that initiatives such as Sarpanch conferences, village group meetings, and walking seminars are being conducted in line with official guidelines to ensure effective outreach.

Delivering the keynote speech, Bimal Kar highlighted the objectives and significance of the VB GRAM G Bill, stating that it would open new avenues for rural development and employment. He praised KVK Unakoti for organizing such awareness programs. Shyamal Das, meanwhile, explained that once implemented, the Bill would increase guaranteed workdays from 100 to 125, while also strengthening accountability, transparency, and quality of work.

The program concluded with the distribution of agricultural tools and materials among participating farmers and women cultivators. Organizers expressed confidence that the campaign had successfully conveyed a positive message about VB GRAM G to rural communities.
