Agartala, 12th January 2026: Alike previous years, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) marked National Youth Day on January 12 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The event was held today at the Chhatra-Yuva Bhavan, where youth leaders of the organization paid floral tributes to Vivekananda’s portrait.
Speakers at the program highlighted various aspects of Vivekananda’s philosophy and teachings, emphasizing self-confidence, character building, and the spirit of service to humanity. They urged young people to draw inspiration from these ideals and contribute to nation-building. According to the speakers, the observance of National Youth Day aims to guide the youth towards a positive path by embracing Vivekananda’s vision.
Addressing the gathering, DYFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb underscored the relevance of Vivekananda’s message in today’s times. He alleged that divisive politics is spreading across the country, misusing the saffron flag that Vivekananda once held as a symbol of sacrifice and peace.
Deb called upon the youth to unite against such divisive forces, drawing strength from Vivekananda’s ideals of service and humanism. He stressed that the philosopher’s teachings should serve as a guiding light for building unity and harmony in society.
