Agartala, 15th January 2026: The vibrant Pithe-Puli festival organized by Deshbandhu Club in Santirbazar came to a grand conclusion, showcasing a unique blend of local tradition and modern culture.
The closing ceremony was graced by former Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik as the chief guest. She was accompanied by MLA Pramod Reang, Santirbazar Mandal President and Club Joint Secretary Debasish Bhoumik, Club President and Vice Chairman of the Municipal Council Satyabrata Saha, Club Secretary Prabir Baran Das, Municipal Council’s Paur Mata Swapna Baidya, Kartik Prabhu of Baikhora Jagannath Temple, and noted social worker Ashesh Baidya.
During the event, the guests visited nearly 40 stalls run by Self-Help Groups (SHGs), sampling a wide variety of traditional Bengali delicacies. They praised the efforts of rural women in reviving the lost flavors of village Bengal and lauded their entrepreneurial spirit.
In her address, Pratima Bhoumik commended the developmental progress of the Santirbazar assembly constituency and extended heartfelt thanks to Deshbandhu Club members for their disciplined and successful organization of the festival.
The highlight of the evening was a cultural program featuring renowned singer Sneha Bhattacharya, famed for her performances in Kolkata’s popular reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Her soulful renditions of popular songs captivated the audience, drawing enthusiastic participation from both young and old.
With its lively mix of food, music, and community spirit, the Pithe-Puli festival set a remarkable example of cultural celebration in Santirbazar.
