Two youths injured in road accident on Agartala–Sabroom NH

Agartala, 15th January 2026:    A fresh road accident has been reported on National Highway No. 8 connecting Agartala and Sabroom. Two youth sustained serious injuries after their motorbike lost control near the Jolaibari bypass in Santirbazar subdivision late last night.

Local sources informed that the incident took place around 11:30 pm when the victims were returning home from Santirbazar. The speeding motorcycle skidded and crashed, leaving both riders critically injured. The injured have been identified as Raju Tripura (26), the rider and Samir Tripura (20), the pillion rider, both residents of Mairachari.

Local residents rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and alerted the fire service. Firefighters arrived promptly, rescued the injured, and shifted them to Jolaibari Community Health Centre for first aid.

Local members expressed concern over the recurring accidents on the highway, stressing that negligence and overspeeding often lead to such mishaps. They urged commuters to exercise greater caution while traveling on the busy national highway.
