Agartala, 19th February 2026: A district-level media sensitization workshop on immunization was organized today at the conference hall of the Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office in Dhalai. The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of vaccination in safeguarding public health and to strengthen the role of the media in raising awareness among communities.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Apollo Koloi, Chief Medical Officer of Dhalai district, who welcomed journalists and emphasized the need for accurate health communication. “It is vital that correct health messages reach every section of society to protect public interest,” he said.
Presenting the district’s immunization status, Dr. Pritam Debbarma, District Immunization Officer (DIO), reported that as of February 2026, vaccination coverage among children aged 0–1 year in Dhalai stands at 97 percent. He stressed the urgency of timely vaccination to protect children from life-threatening diseases, assuring that the health department is committed to ensuring no child is deprived of this essential service.
Dr. Sudhir Debbarma, District Nodal Officer (ASHA), highlighted the crucial role of grassroots health workers in spreading awareness and delivering accurate information to the public. Meanwhile, District Program Manager (DPM) Dipan Kar discussed strategies for effective program management and achieving immunization targets.
Concluding the workshop, speakers urged media representatives to actively disseminate the benefits of vaccination, particularly in remote areas, to help build a healthier society.
