OC of Shilachhari Police Station Suspended for Negligence of Duty, Defying Supreme Court Orders

Agartala, 22nd March 2026:    The Officer‑in‑Charge (OC) of Shilachhari Police Station, Inspector Laxbir Jamatia, has been temporarily suspended from service on charges of gross negligence in duty and failure to comply with directives from the Supreme Court of India.

An official order issued by the Establishment Branch of the Tripura Police Headquarters stated that departmental disciplinary proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1965 have been initiated against him.

In light of this, Inspector Jamatia has been placed under immediate suspension. During the suspension period, his headquarters has been shifted to the office of the Superintendent of Police, Gomati District, and he has been directed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission.

The order also mentioned that he will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules during the suspension period.
