Agartala, 4th April 2026: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the royal scion and founder of the Tipra Motha Party, appealed to voters on Saturday to consider the future of the next generation while casting their ballots, asserting that community power will triumph in the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election.
Addressing an election rally in the Dasda-Kanchanpur constituency of Tripura’s North District, Pradyot emphasized that his party has not formed an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “If we had allied with BJP, Tipra Motha wouldn’t even have a candidate here. Now, you have a choice: vote for Shailendra Nath of BJP or Uma Shankar Reang of Tipra Motha. If our candidate wins, additional funds will be provided to support the community, because people here are poor,” he said.
Pradyot contrasted his focus on tribal rights and development with what he described as the state leadership’s inaction. “I speak for the next generation and their rights. If tribal rights are ignored, votes will be lost. Policies today aim to weaken the Thansa system. When Anjel Chakma was killed, I was the first to raise my voice. Lack of unity has left our indigenous people impoverished. Today, we have a choice: secure the future for our children and vote wisely, rather than be swayed by money,” he added.
He urged residents to question the government on local issues such as poor road conditions, lack of water supply, and inadequate education funding. “This isn’t just politics. We must think about the future of our next generations. I guarantee that in Kanchanpur, two to three water tanks will be installed to provide drinking water. To win the TTAADC, vote for Tipra Motha. When the poor indigenous people unite, we will triumph,” Pradyot said.
He concluded by calling for peaceful elections and a show of community strength. “On one side is BJP’s power, on the other is the power of the community. Community power will win. I will always fight for my people. The support we have received is overwhelming, and we have no words to express our gratitude. On April 12, let the poor indigenous people give their answer,” he said.
