Agartala, 14th May 2026: As part of the Central Government’s ongoing 100-day special campaign to achieve a TB-free India, a dedicated health camp was organized in Kailashahar on Thursday. The event, held at the Kailashahar Municipal Council’s conference hall, focused on the health and awareness of municipal sanitation workers.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Amit Das, with Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Rani Debroy attending as chief guest. Several councillors and senior officials from the Health Department were also present.
Sanitation workers received free medical check-ups, including chest X-rays, hemoglobin tests, blood sugar tests, BMI measurement, and HIV screening. Health officials emphasized that the primary goal of the initiative is the early detection and timely treatment of tuberculosis.
Beyond medical examinations, the program also featured counseling sessions to raise awareness about TB prevention. Dr. Amit Das and Treatment Supervisor Anuraj Saha explained the early symptoms of TB, methods to prevent infection, and the importance of completing treatment.
Dr. Das remarked, “Sanitation workers operate in high-risk environments every day. Regular health check-ups are essential, and early detection makes TB completely curable.”
Chairperson Chapala Rani Debroy assured that the municipal administration will continue to organize such health camps regularly. Deputy Chief Executive Officer Hemanta Dhar further urged collective cooperation to build a TB-free society.
