Swadeshi Jagran Manch launches statewide self-reliance campaign in Tripura

Date:

Agartala, 24th May 2026 :  With the objective of spreading the message of nation-building and self-reliance among the masses, the Gomati District unit of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch on Sunday announced a series of year-long awareness programmes across Tripura. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the BMS office conference hall in Udaipur.

The press conference was attended by Gomati District Convener Gautam Chakraborty, Co-convener Nirupam Saha, Divisional Organizer Saikat Bhowmik, Executive Member Pabitra Das, along with several other organizational leaders and distinguished personalities.

Addressing the media, Gautam Chakraborty stated that the country is currently passing through a crucial phase where citizens must actively participate in nation-building rather than depending solely on the government. He said the organisation aims to take to the grassroots the message surrounding seven key issues highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the holistic welfare of society and the nation.

As part of the initiative, the organisation will conduct “Swadeshi Sabhas” in schools, colleges, universities, markets and various localities across all districts of Tripura. The meetings will focus on promoting the vision of an “Atmanirbhar Bharat” or Self-Reliant India, environmental conservation, energy preservation and increased use of indigenous products in daily life.

The organisation also emphasized several socio-economic and environmental concerns during the press conference. Leaders appealed to citizens to use social media responsibly for constructive national interests rather than negative activities. Stress was also laid on the increased adoption of clean energy sources such as PNG and other eco-friendly fuels.

Special emphasis was further placed on the promotion of electric vehicles and electric buses, expansion of solar energy projects, river rejuvenation initiatives and development of hydropower resources to combat environmental pollution. The leadership also advocated for greater use of bicycles for maintaining health and protecting the environment, reduction of oil consumption in daily cooking for healthier lifestyles, and adoption of eco-friendly construction methods through the use of hollow bricks instead of conventional bricks.

Highlighting economic self-reliance, the leaders urged people to prioritize indigenous products and reduce unnecessary expenditure on gold. According to the organisation, such small but meaningful changes can significantly strengthen the national economy while simultaneously supporting environmental protection and public health.

Towards the end of the programme, the organisation announced a special regional “Vichar Varga” seminar for Tripura, scheduled to be held on June 27 and 28 at PRTI in Udaipur. The Swadeshi Jagran Manch appealed to people from all sections of society to extend active support and participation in the upcoming event.
