Shah’s Tripura Visit on June 5; CM Dr Saha to attend 23rd Plenary Session in Meghalaya

Date:

Agartala, 2nd June 2026:   Tripura is set to host Union Home Minister Amit Shah on June 5, when he is expected to review border security arrangements and participate in a key development event in the state capital.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced that Shah’s visit will include an inspection of areas along the India-Bangladesh border as part of the Centre’s efforts to strengthen surveillance and implement advanced smart fencing technologies. The Home Minister is also expected to assess ongoing border management initiatives in the Northeast region.

Apart from the border review, Shah is likely to attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a proposed luxury hotel project at the historic Puspabanta Palace in Agartala. The project is being undertaken through a partnership involving the Tata Group and is expected to boost tourism and hospitality infrastructure in the state.

Meanwhile, Dr. Saha will travel to Meghalaya to participate in the 23rd North Eastern Region (NER) Plenary Session scheduled for June 4. The meeting will bring together leaders from across the Northeast to discuss regional development priorities.

The Chief Minister said he intends to focus on strategies for attracting investment to the Northeast, improving infrastructure connectivity, and promoting economic growth. He will also raise issues concerning Tripura’s development and discuss matters related to the state’s power sector during the plenary session.

The upcoming engagements are expected to play an important role in advancing both regional cooperation and development initiatives in Tripura and the wider Northeast.
