Date:

Agartala, 7th July 2026: Two separate road accidents in different parts of Tripura claimed the lives of two men, leaving their families and local communities in deep mourning.

In the first incident, e-auto driver Partha Das, a resident of Bhati Abhaynagar, died after allegedly losing control of his electric auto-rickshaw. According to reports, the vehicle met with an accident after the driver lost control while on the road. Local residents rushed to the spot and rescued him in a critical condition before he was taken to a nearby hospital. However, despite the efforts of doctors, he succumbed to his injuries. The tragic death of the young driver has cast a pall of grief over Bhati Abhaynagar, with residents expressing shock over the untimely loss.

In another incident, Ratimohan Tripura (37), a resident of Mayajoy Para under Avangchhara ADC Village in South Tripura district, lost his life in a scooter accident late on Monday night. Reportedly, he was returning home on his scooter bearing registration number TR-08-B-6172 after attending a wedding ceremony in the Avangchhara area when the accident occurred.

Family members said Ratimohan is suspected to have lost control of the scooter on a rain-soaked muddy road, leading to the fatal crash. He was brought to the Jolaibari Community Health Centre at around 12:45 am on July 7, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Following a post-mortem examination, his body was handed over to the family on Tuesday. Members of the 38-Jolaibari Mandal BJP paid their last respects, remembering him as a dedicated party worker.

The incident has also sparked concerns among local residents over the condition of roads in the area, with some demanding improved road infrastructure and safety measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.

Both tragic incidents have once again highlighted the need for greater road safety and improved infrastructure, especially during the monsoon season when slippery and damaged roads significantly increase the risk of accidents.
