Agartala, 7th July 2026: Unakoti District Hospital has successfully performed a life-saving surgery on a six-year-old child from Machmara, removing a growing thyroglossal duct cyst from the front of the neck.
For several months, the child had been suffering from a tumor-like swelling that caused increasing discomfort as it grew in size. After being brought to the hospital, medical examinations confirmed the presence of a thyroglossal duct cyst — a congenital anomaly that, if untreated, could lead to infections and other complications.
On June 26, 2026, ENT specialist Dr. Arup Chakraborty led the surgical team in removing the cyst completely. The team also included Anesthesiologist Dr. Amit Pal Chowdhury, Nursing Officer Mundipa Debbarma, and OT Assistant Mithun Malla. The surgery was successful, and the child recovered quickly, being discharged the following day.
The child’s family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nursing staff, and healthcare workers for conducting the complex surgery free of cost. They praised the hospital’s dedication and commitment to patient care.
