Donation boxes of Tripura Sundari Temple reopened after 50 days

Date:

Agartala, 7th July 2026: Nearly one month and twenty days later, the traditional donation boxes and chests of the revered Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur were reopened on Tuesday morning.

A total of 17 donation chests and boxes kept in the temple premises were unlocked, and the formal counting process began in the morning. The exercise continued throughout the day under strict supervision and was expected to conclude between 6 and 7 pm.

The last opening of the donation boxes took place on May 18, when offerings worth approximately Rs 20.52 lakh were collected. Officials indicated that a substantial amount is likely to be recovered this time as well. Interestingly, apart from Indian currency, foreign coins and notes were also found, highlighting the temple’s growing popularity among international tourists and pilgrims.

To ensure transparency, the Gomati district administration formed a special 17-member team to oversee the counting. The entire process was conducted under tight security and administrative monitoring. Deputy Collector Chandrasekhar Chattopadhyay confirmed that the counting was being carried out strictly as per prescribed rules and was expected to be completed by evening.
