Agartala, 8th July 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today reiterated that the state government’s primary objective is to strengthen healthcare services within Tripura, ensuring that people receive quality treatment without having to travel outside the state and incur heavy medical expenses.
Speaking during the 69th edition of the Mukhyamantri Samipesu programme at his official residence, Dr. Saha said the government is continuously upgrading the state’s medical infrastructure to meet the healthcare needs of its people.
“The improvement in Tripura’s healthcare system is now clearly visible. Many diseases for which patients earlier had to travel to other states are now being treated in Agartala. If treatment is not available within the state, patients are being referred to reputed government hospitals such as AIIMS Delhi. The telemedicine services at GB Hospital are also enabling better healthcare delivery to many patients,” the Chief Minister said.
Despite adverse weather conditions and natural disasters, a large number of people from across the state attended the public outreach programme, with the majority seeking medical assistance.
Dr. Saha personally heard each case and directed officials of the concerned departments to take prompt action.
Among those who sought assistance were Rupali Namasudra of Ambassa in Dhalai district for her child’s treatment, Bikash Debbarma’s family from Dhanbilash village in Kailashahar, Abdul Hossain of North Tripura for his wife’s treatment, Prabir Barman from Khowai for his son’s complex eye disease, and Gayatri Bhattacharya from Unakoti for treatment related to a digestive disorder.
In two critical cases, the Chief Minister instructed officials to arrange treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi. Several residents from Agartala also approached the Chief Minister for medical assistance. These included Situ Saha, Saju Rishidas, Babita Saha, Sangeeta Dhar, Rebika Debbarma, Arpita Chakraborty, and Noten Das, who sought support for the treatment of family members suffering from serious illnesses, including cancer and complex diseases.
In addition to healthcare-related grievances, Jhumur Shil Bhowmik of Narsingarh sought help regarding pension-related issues. Members of the Maharajganj Bazar Fish Traders Association also met the Chief Minister and raised various concerns affecting their livelihood. Dr. Saha assured them that the government would extend necessary assistance.
During the programme, the Chief Minister also handed over a cheque of Rs 3.90 lakh as financial assistance to the family of a person who lost their life in a recent natural disaster in the 79 Tila area of Agartala.
