Agartala, 27th July 2026 : Anganwadi workers of Melaghar area submitted a seven-point deputation to Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Prabal Kanti Barman, pressing for immediate redressal of their grievances.
The workers demanded Rs 300 monthly smartphone recharge allowance or one-year recharge directly from the office, timely disbursement of feeding bills every month, revision of feeding rates in line with soaring market prices, payment of contingency bills and dress allowances, provision of Dearness Allowance (DA) similar to government employees, and allocation of Rs 10,000 fund for each Anganwadi centre.
They urged the CDPO to ensure swift implementation of these demands. Acknowledging the legitimacy of their concerns, the CDPO assured that the demands would be forwarded to higher authorities for consideration.
Speaking to the media, the Anganwadi workers reiterated their call for the government and department to act promptly, stressing that delay in addressing these issues would severely impact their functioning and welfare.
