Students, parents protest lack of subject teachers at Shreebhumi Vidya Bhavan HS School

Date:

Agartala, 29th July 2026 :   Severe discontent has erupted among students and guardians of Shreebhumi Vidyabhavan Higher Secondary School in Dharmanagar subdivision due to the prolonged absence of subject teachers in key disciplines. For the past three to four years, the school has been functioning without dedicated teachers for Philosophy and Education, leading to frustration and academic setbacks.

Philosophy, regarded as a distinct and complex subject separate from Political Science, History, Psychology, and Education, requires specialized guidance. However, in the absence of qualified teachers, general graduate instructors have been compelled to handle classes, leaving students dissatisfied and struggling to grasp the subject’s unique terminology and concepts. Similarly, the lack of an Education subject teacher has further weakened the academic environment, causing students to lose interest in these disciplines.

Local guardians and education enthusiasts allege negligence on the part of the Education Department. Despite the state government’s recent recruitment drive that appointed subject teachers across Tripura, Shreebhumi Vidyabhavan and several other schools in North Tripura remain deprived of Philosophy teachers. This discrepancy has raised serious questions about the department’s planning and record-keeping.

Students complain that without proper subject teachers, they are unable to gain accurate knowledge or prepare effectively for examinations. Many argue that the authorities have overlooked the school’s strategic importance, as it serves students from remote areas within a 5–6 km radius. Parents and students have squarely blamed administrative indifference for the crisis.

The student community has now demanded immediate appointment of qualified teachers in Philosophy and Education. They have warned that failure to address the issue will compel them to launch a larger movement in the coming days.
