Two Youths Detained With Heroin in Kakraban Police Operation

Date:

Agartala, 21st   August 2026 : Kakraban police detained three youths and recovered 9.42 grams of suspected heroin during a raid based on a tip-off in the Hodra-Samatla Para area on Friday night.

According to police, the operation was conducted at around 8 pm, during which a battery-operated auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle were also seized. The vehicles bear registration numbers TR-03-D-3656 and TR-03-N-6986, respectively.

Kakraban police station Officer-in-Charge Gopal Shukla Das told the media that a total of 9.42 grams of heroin was recovered from the detained youths. The three were subsequently brought to Kakraban police station for questioning.

Police identified two of the detainees as Arjan Ali, a battery-operated auto-rickshaw driver and resident of Samatla-Hodra, and Alamgir Hossain, a resident of Purba Palatana. The identity of the third detainee is expected to be established during the course of the investigation.

SDPO Debanjali Roy also visited the spot and later the Kakraban police station after receiving information about the drug seizure. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

However, Arjan Ali’s wife has disputed the police version, alleging that her husband was falsely implicated and that no drugs were recovered from his possession.

With conflicting claims emerging from the police and the family, the investigation is now expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged recovery. Police sources said the detained youths would be produced before a court on Saturday, where the police are expected to present details and evidence related to the case.
