Agartala, March 20: After assuming charge as chairperson of the Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TCPCR), Jayanti Debbarma along with her team members met with the student Taifur Rahman who is undergoing treatment at GBP Hospital here in Agartala after sustaining severe injuries on explosion of an indigenous bomb.
It is worthy to mention here that Taifur, son of Muslem Mia is a class V student and resident of Kalsimura Gram Panchayat under Sepahijala district. Unknowingly, he exploded an indigenous bomb after throwing it near to him, which was found stored in a bag at an abandoned toilet of the school building on March 15 last. After preliminary treatment at Boxanagar Primary Healthcare Centre, he was immediately shifted to GBP Hospital in Agartala city.
Five days passed off, Kalamchoura police station staff failed to arrest any accused person involved in storing these five indigenous bombs at the premises of an educational institution.
In view of this incident, the TCPCR Chairperson Jayanti Debbarma took responsibility, rushed to the GBP Hospital and met the injured Taifur Rahman, a class five student. She was accompanied by Commission’s members Advocate Pankaj Saha and Manisha Saha along with a ChildLine worker. They also spoke to the injured Taifur Rahman’s family and doctors’ on-duty at GBP Hospital’s Orthopedic department on Monday.
Talking to Taifur’s family and the doctors at the hospital, it was learned that the class V student’s left hand was the mostly damaged. The doctors also said that they are trying their best to recover the child as soon as possible, but he has not recovered yet.
However, TCPCR Chairperson Debbarma said that this heinous incident in the school is a reprehensible incident. She drew the attention of the police administration of the state and requested them to arrest those involved in the incident and take action as per law. She also said that the Commission will always stand by the injured minor child.
Meanwhile, OC of Kalamchoura police station said that the investigation on the recovered bombs are going on and so far, no arrest has been made.
