Agartala, 28th September 2026 : A woman was killed and four others were injured in a tragic road accident while they were reportedly on their way to cast their votes in the ongoing Village Committee elections in Dhalai district on Monday.
According to available information, the incident occurred in the Bonkumari area when a battery-operated tom-tom carrying several people travelling towards Chawmanu met with an accident.
The deceased has been identified as Lakshmi Smriti Chakma. Four others sustained injuries in the accident.
Following the incident, local residents and others rescued the injured and rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment. Considering their condition, they were reportedly referred to Kulai Hospital for further treatment.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, as the victims were reportedly travelling to exercise their franchise when the accident occurred.
