Agartala, 29th September 2026 : BJP Tripura State President and MLA Abhishek Debroy on Tuesday visited GB Pant Hospital to meet party workers injured in a firing incident during the ongoing Village Committee elections.
Debroy took stock of the injured workers’ health condition and spoke with their family members during his visit.
Speaking to reporters, the BJP state president described the incident as “extremely unfortunate” and said police had been asked to conduct an investigation. He said the BJP had issued instructions across the state to ensure that the elections were conducted peacefully and that polling had remained peaceful in most places.
“Who came suddenly and carried out such an incident is a matter for investigation. This is a deep conspiracy. Police are investigating the matter, and only after the investigation will it be clear what actually happened,” Debroy said.
Referring to one of the injured workers, whom he identified as a resident of his Assembly constituency, Debroy said he was deeply saddened by the incident.
“He is a very good boy and belongs to my Assembly constituency. I am extremely shocked and saddened. I could not sleep last night and spent the night in tears,” he said.
Debroy also expressed sympathy to the injured worker’s family and assured them of his support. He said that as an MLA, he would stand by the family and extend all necessary assistance.
