Five Rohingya held in Dharmanagar

Agartala: May 19. Tripura Police on Friday detained five Rohingya from Dharmanagar Railway Station in North District of Tripura which shares an interstate  border with Assam and Mizoram.

Police sources said that among these five, three are male and two are female. They are identified as Noor Kulima, Mohammad Sah, Rozina Begum, Umrullah and Md Ririan.

“During preliminary interrogation they have revealed that all of them have Indian Aadhaar cards and said that there was another person named Ruksar Bibi who helped them in crossing the international border. All of them were refugees from the Kutupalan Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar of Bangladesh. While they were in Bangladesh, a man named Mohammad Alam from Bangladesh sent them to India with Indian Aadhaar cards. They entered Agartala illegally through Comilla, Bangladesh and paid Rs 25,000 each. After coming to Agartala, Ruksar Bibi ran away. They came to Dharmanagar on 18 May”, police said.

Police further said that their intention was to go to Jammu and Kashmir by railway.

“But they were caught by the police at the Dharmanagar railway station and are currently in the custody of the Dharmanagar police station. Further interrogation on”, said police.
