Agartala, June 21 – Union Minister of State, Pratima Bhoumik, passionately advocated the regular practice of yoga to maintain a healthy body and mind. Inaugurating the Bishalgarh Block-level International Yoga Day at East Laxmibil Higher Secondary School, she emphasized the ancient tradition of yoga in India, highlighting how it has gained global recognition over time.
“Yoga is deeply rooted in our Indian heritage. Our revered saints used yoga to foster their well-being in ancient times. Today, this age-old tradition of our country is renowned worldwide,” stated the Union Minister of State for Social Justice. She also attributed the international popularity of yoga to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts.
During the event, Pratima Bhoumik stressed the significant role of yoga in promoting health and strength. She encouraged individuals to dedicate 30 minutes every day to practicing yoga and Pranayam, emphasizing that these practices were essential for maintaining good health. According to her, yoga and pranayama are effective tools for disease prevention.
The occasion was attended by MLA Sushant Deb, Bishalgarh Panchayat Samiti Chairman Chanda Debbarma, and other prominent figures.
