Agartala, June 23: The TIPRA Motha party organized a massive deputation in Tulasikhar today, accusing the BJP-IPFT government of corruption and misrule.

The rally and deputation were led by Animesh Debbarma, the leader of the opposition and MLA of Tipra Motha.

During the event, a public deputation was presented to Mara Singh, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Tula Shikhar, on behalf of the Tipra Motha party, outlining a 10-point demand. Supporters of the Tipra Motha party started gathering from different locations since 10 o’clock in the morning and a procession commenced from the grounds of Champahour Class 12 school at approximately noon.

The demands put forth included a survey of Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards, provision of drinking water, infrastructure development, investigation into alleged corruption and irregularities in the recruitment of Anganwadi workers and helpers, and an increase in wages under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), among others.

Animesh Debbarma, the opposition leader, accused the current state government of engaging in corrupt practices. He stated, “More than 1000 workers have gathered here to protest against the misrule and corruption of the BJP-IPFT government. This government is engaged in looting the people. We have come together in this protest for the welfare of the people.”

He further emphasized that Tipra Motha would demonstrate its strength through this deputation. The event was attended by EM Ananta Debbarma, MLA Ranjit Debbarma from Ramchandra Ghat, MLA Sapna Debbarma, and various zonal and sub-zonal chairmen.

As the procession approached the BDO office, a scuffle broke out between the security forces and the TIPRA Motha workers when they were prevented from entering the premises. Subsequently, the atmosphere inside the block became heated as the workers of Motha expressed their discontent.

However, the situation was brought under control, and the demands outlined in the ten-point charter were presented to the BDO.
