Agartala, July 15, 2023: Tripura MP Rebati Tripura has claimed that the state has collected more blood than its requirement this year and has suggested sending blood to other states if needed. He made this statement at a mega blood donation camp organized by Kamalpur Manikvander Play Center on Saturday, where he said that the state needs 40 thousand units of blood but has collected 2 percent more.

He also said that Tripura is near the top in terms of blood donation per population and that people from all parts are responding to the Chief Minister’s call to donate blood.

However, his claim has been met with skepticism and resentment by many patients’ families and common people who have faced difficulties in getting blood from the blood banks in the state. They have alleged that there is no proper system of blood supply and that they have to wander from one place to another or seek help from other sources to get blood for their relatives. They have also complained of deaths due to lack of blood in some cases. They have questioned the MP’s statement and asked him to visit the blood banks in hospitals to see the reality.

The mega blood donation camp was also attended by State Sports Minister Tinku Roy, MLAs Manoj Kanti Deb and Swapna Das Majumder, Sub-Divisional Magistrate L Darlong, Durga Chowmuhani Panchayat Samiti Chairman Shampa Das and others. Various blood donor organizations were honored with mementos at the event.
