Agartala, August 10, 2023: In line with the Prime Minister’s directive for the “Har Ghar Tiranga” program, aimed at fostering a spirit of patriotism, a National Flag distribution stall was unveiled in the heart of the capital city by Agartala Municipal Corporation on Thursday. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mayor Dipak Majumder, accompanied by Minister Tinku Roy, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, and other leaders.

Minister Tinku Roy addressed the gathering, highlighting the transformative development witnessed in the state over the last five years. He cited the remarkable progress made in infrastructure, particularly the construction of the 130 km road from Agartala to Sabrum, completed in a mere five years under the current government’s leadership.

The “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative, launched last year on the occasion of Independence Day, garnered immense nationwide response. The Prime Minister’s call to hoist the national flag in every household resonated deeply, inspiring the public to actively participate. This year, the initiative is set to continue from August 13 to 15, with the Prime Minister urging citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes during these three days.

AMC’s proactive efforts to support this initiative were demonstrated through the establishment of a counter in the city center, facilitating the sale of national flags. The initiative aims to ensure every household has access to the national flag and plays a vital role in respecting the sacrifices made for India’s independence.

Minister Roy emphasized the significance of such initiatives in nurturing the youth’s sense of belonging and patriotism. In an effort to extend this initiative’s impact, the distribution of national flags was carried out among underprivileged individuals, enabling them to hoist the flag with dignity. The National Flag distribution stall will remain open until August 15, providing an opportunity for the general public to procure flags and actively participate in this patriotic endeavour.
