Agartala, 5th February 2024 :   Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, the founder of TIPRA Motha, a regional party in Tripura, lashed out at those who left his party and joined the national party for the sake of power.

He said they have lost their voice and dignity in the process. He also reiterated his commitment to fight for the justice and development of Tiprasa, the indigenous people of Tripura.

He was speaking at the third foundation day of TIPRA Motha at Malancha Niwas in the capital on Monday. He said that his party has made history by becoming the opposition party in the state assembly with 13 MLAs, despite being weak in terms of organization. He urged Tiprasa to keep struggling for their rights and welfare, especially in the field of education.

He also accused the national party of trying to divide the Bru and Reang refugees, who are also part of Tiprasa, and impose Bengali script on the students of secondary and higher secondary exams.

He warned that if anyone tries to hurt the sentiments of Tiprasa, he and his party will not remain silent. He said that he left the national party to form TIPRA Motha to give a voice to Tiprasa, who have been neglected and exploited for decades. He said that Tiprasa are still landless and deprived of justice in Tripura.
