Agartala, 5th May 2024:   In a significant victory for teachers nationwide, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the extension of the applicability of UGC Regulation 2010 for Career Advancement Scheme until December 31, 2024. This decision comes as a result of persistent advocacy efforts led by the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh, marking a pivotal moment in securing justice for affected educators.

Teachers who meet the eligibility criteria by December 31, 2024, now have the option to choose between Regulation 2010 and Regulation 2018 for Career Advancement Scheme. The formal confirmation of this extension was conveyed through a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the Shikshak Mahasangh from the UGC.

The Shikshak Mahasangh, through relentless pressure and consistent engagement with key stakeholders, including meetings with the UGC Chairman and Education Minister, effectively presented the case of teachers with compelling facts and arguments. Today, their efforts have culminated in a fair decision by the UGC and the Central Government, which prioritizes the welfare and interests of educators.

Expressing deep gratitude, the Shikshak Mahasangh acknowledges the pivotal role played by the UGC and the Central Government in addressing the concerns of teachers and ensuring equitable opportunities for career advancement.
