Agartala, 14th May 2024:  In a recent demonstration of discontent, Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress staged a protest at West Agartala Women Police Station, alleging rise in insecurities faced by women under the rule of BJP government.

Expressing grave concern, co-president Ratna Singha highlighted the surge in crimes against women across the state.  “Just two days prior, a disturbing incident unfolded in Battala area of Agartala, where two youths kidnapped and subjected a housewife to a harrowing gang-rape. Similarly, another distressing case emerged from Badharghat area, where a young man abducted and molested a minor girl, inflicting further trauma by burning her body with cigarettes. Despite the swift registration of cases at Police Station, the authorities have yet to apprehend the perpetrators even after 48 hours”, she said.
