Three tribal youths die while cleaning well at Dhanpur

Agartala, 8th June 2024:    In a tragic incident at Tripura’s Dakshin Taibandal, Neoramura, three tribal youths lost their lives while cleaning a neglected well at South Taibandal Neuramora J.B. School on Saturday. The victims are Asukh Kumar Tripura, Shambhu Kumar Debvarma, and Shukla Moni Murasingh, were hired by a teacher to address the school’s water issues.

During the cleaning process, one youth entered the well and failed to reappear, prompting the other two to follow. None of them returned, leading school authorities to alert the Melaghar fire department. The youths were later found unresponsive and declared dead at Melaghar Hospital, likely due to suffocation from gas buildup in the well.

The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the community and raised concerns about safety and accountability. The families of the deceased, who lived nearby, are left mourning their tragic loss.
