Agartala, 28th September 2024: The Dharmanagar Police successfully conducted a raid at the residence of Bahar Uddin in Paschim Chandrapur village, leading to the seizure of 550 Yaba tablets. The operation was carried out on Saturday morning based on secret information about the alleged drug trade in the area.
District Superintendent of Police, Bhanupada Chakraborty confirmed that Bahar Uddin had long been suspected of running a drug business in Dharmanagar sub-division. “We had received intelligence on his involvement in drug-related activities for a while, and the tip-off on Saturday gave us the opportunity to take action,” Chakraborty said.
The raid was led by Inspector Suleiman Reang of the Dharmanagar Police Station. Authorities recovered 550 Yaba tablets weighing approximately 54 grams from Bahar Uddin’s residence. The black-market value of the drugs is estimated to be around Rs 25,000.
Following the recovery, Bahar Uddin is now under investigation, and police have begun proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. “We are determined to apprehend all those involved in this drug ring,” Superintendent Chakraborty added, highlighting the commitment of the district police to continue their crackdown on illegal drug activities.
