Agartala, 28th November 2024: Members of the All India Road Transport Workers Federation Tripura branch staged a protest in front of the Tripura Natural Gas Company Limited on Thursday, demanding the withdrawal of the recent hikes in CNG and PNG prices.
A representative of the organization, speaking to reporters, criticized the BJP government in Tripura for failing to fulfill its promises made before coming to power. “The BJP coalition government has not fulfilled a single promise in the last six years. Instead, they have increased the prices of CNG and PNG abnormally,” the representative stated.
The protestors highlighted the financial strain caused by the price hikes, noting that the costs of petrol products, spare parts, and fitness equipment have also risen. “The workers’ earnings have almost stopped due to these increases, leading to significant financial losses,” the representative added.
The protest underscored the growing discontent among transport workers, who are calling for immediate action to alleviate their economic hardships. The demonstration reflects broader concerns about the impact of rising fuel prices on the livelihoods of workers in Tripura.
