Agartala, 14th December 2024:  In a scathing critique, MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Saturday accused the BJP government of attempting to rewrite history by distorting facts about former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, a key leader of India’s freedom movement. Barman made these allegations while addressing journalists today.

The remarks came after an important meeting held at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan aimed at strengthening the Seva Dal organization. Nityagopal Rudra Pal, the convenor of the Seva Dal, announced plans to hold a state-wide training camp in the coming days, potentially in a district outside Agartala city.

Facing the journalists, MLA Sudip Roy Barman emphasized the significance of the Seva Dal in countering what he described as a conspiracy by the BJP to distort history. “The Seva Dal of the Congress plays a crucial role in this fight. Congress means service. Congress means working with the people. Congress always stands by the distressed, poor, and hardworking people,” Barman stated.

He further alleged that the BJP is undermining the constitutional rights of minorities, Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Scheduled Tribes (STs). “The BJP is trying to take away the constitution from minorities, SCs, and STs. Moreover, government facilities in employment are being stopped and handed over to contractors, depriving STs and SCs of their reserved seats,” Barman claimed.

The meeting and subsequent press conference highlighted the Congress party’s commitment to addressing these issues and mobilizing support to counter the BJP’s actions. The upcoming training camp is expected to further strengthen the Seva Dal’s efforts in this regard.
