Forest officials conduct raid, recover illegal teak wood at Dharmanagar

Agartala, 11th January 2025:   In an early morning operation, forest officials carried out a raid in the Rani Bari Gram Panchayat area of Dharmanagar subdivision, resulting in the recovery of a significant quantity of illegal teak wood. However, the timber mafia responsible for the illegal activity managed to evade capture.

Abhijit Das, in-charge of the Kadamtala Forest Beat, stated that the forest department received a tip-off about the illegal operation. Acting on this information, a raid was conducted at the residence of Abdul Sattar in Ward No. 4 of Rani Bari Gram Panchayat, situated near the India-Bangladesh and Tripura-Assam border.

During the raid, officials recovered 70 feet of illegal teak wood. However, the house owner and alleged timber mafia, having sensed the impending raid, managed to flee the scene. Forest department officials have registered a case against the accused.
