Agartala, 13th January 2025:   The Kailashahar Women’s Police Station staff has successfully rescued a minor girl 24 days after she went missing and a youth has been arrested in connection with the case. Today, the rescued minor was presented before the Kailashahar Court.

Speaking to media personnel here, Acting Officer-in-Charge Pompi Nath of the Kailashahar Women’s Police Station said, “A minor girl from the Paiturbazar area went missing on December 18 last year. On December 20, her father filed a written complaint with our station. We immediately took up the case and began tracking the minor’s mobile phone. After 24 days of investigation, we found that the minor was in the Tulabagan area under Sidhai Police Station in West district.”

With the assistance of Sidhai Police Station, the Kailashahar Women’s Police Station conducted a rescue operation late last night, successfully rescuing the minor and arresting a youth named Subarna Das. The minor was brought back to Kailashahar and provided medical treatment at the Unakoti District Hospital.

“Subarna Das, a 22-year-old resident of Bhagyapur area, forcibly abducted the minor,” Nath continued. “They lived together as tenants in a house in the Tulabagan area. Das has a romantic relationship with the fifteen-year-old minor, who is a ninth-grade student. She did not return home from school on December 18 and was taken by Das to various locations before settling in Tulabagan,” she added.

Police sources revealed that a close relative of Subarna Das helped him in renting the house in Tulabagan. “The arrested Subarna Das has been sent to the Kailashahar Court today for further proceedings,” Nath confirmed.

As news of the rescue spread on social media, the family of the minor and the residents of Kailashahar Municipal Council expressed their satisfaction with the efforts of the Kailashahar Women’s Police Station.

“We are relieved and grateful for the swift action taken by the police. Their dedication and hard work have ensured the safe return of our daughter,” said a family member of the minor.
