Agartala, 20th March 2025: The Sadar District Congress has raised its voice against several pressing issues faced by residents of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area, including the growing menace of mosquitoes. On Thursday, the Congress organized a protest march through the streets of the city, culminating in the submission of a deputation to the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar.
Speaking to reporters during the protest, a Congress leader from the Sadar District highlighted the party’s decision to take to the streets in response to the grievances of AMC residents. “Despite paying their taxes on time, the residents are being deprived of basic services,” the worker alleged. He further pointed out that the mosquito problem in the city has been escalating due to irregular garbage disposal and the deteriorating drainage system. “The lack of regular waste management and the poor condition of water drainage have only worsened the situation,” he added.
The Congress has put forth a series of demands aimed at addressing these issues. These include the eradication of the mosquito menace, the provision of safe drinking water, improvements to the drainage system, and an increase in the number of workdays and wages under the MGNREGA scheme to 200 days annually.
The protest march and subsequent deputation submission reflect the Congress’s commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of the city’s residents. The party has urged the municipal authorities to take immediate action to resolve these pressing concerns.
