Agartala, 14th April 2025:   A birthday celebration honoring Dr. B. R. Ambedkar turned violent in the Hotat Bazar area of Bamanchhara Panchayat, 46-Surma assembly constituency, as alleged BJP miscreants attacked the program, leaving several injured. Among the injured was Anil Das, a prominent Scheduled Caste leader and member of the Kamalpur Sub-division Committee of CPI (M), who sustained serious injuries.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attack took place during the morning festivities marking the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution. “We were peacefully celebrating when suddenly a group armed with sticks and weapons stormed the event. Anil Das was hit multiple times, and others suffered minor injuries,” said a CPI (M) supporter present at the scene.

The incident has sparked outrage in the Bamanchhara area, with tensions running high. In response, CPM supporters gathered outside the local police station, demanding swift action against the perpetrators. “This is an attack not just on individuals but on the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar himself,” stated a protester.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter, but the situation remains volatile as calls for justice grow louder.
