Agartala: April 16. At least 12 persons were admitted to the hospital after consuming sweet curds and sweets on the day of Poila Boisakh at Belonia. The eight persons are residents of Bankar River in the Belonia sub-division. Sources said that they have brought sweet curds and sweets from Maa Tripureshwari sweet shop. These eight people are currently undergoing treatment at the Belonia sub-divisional hospital after having sweet curds and sweets.

Sources said that five more people are sick at home. Sources said that they started vomiting soon after they had sweet curd and started feeling sick. Allegations have been made against Tapas Dutta, the owner of Maa Tripureshwari sweet shop. Allegations of poisoning in curds and sweets have started to emerge. Naturally, questions started to arise about the quality of food. If the officials of the food department had checked the quality of all these delicious foods on time, then no one would have got sick and been admitted to the hospital during the festive season like Poila Boisakh.
