Agartala, 27th July 2026 : A 31-year-old youth identified as Shubham Debnath died after he was allegedly found hanging at his residence in Jugalnagar Duttapara on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
Speaking to reporters, a police officer said relatives informed the police that Shubham had allegedly taken the extreme step at his home. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead. The officer said the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be established and that police are questioning family members as part of the investigation.
Shubham’s elder brother said the day had appeared completely normal. According to him, Shubham had returned home from his shop as usual and later went to his room before dinner. After repeated phone calls went unanswered, the family became suspicious. The brother said he broke open the room, found Shubham hanging, and immediately took him to the hospital, believing he was still alive at the time.
The family said they had noticed no signs of distress or mental health issues beforehand and were unaware of any personal problems. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
