Mysterious death of schoolgirl sparks fresh unrest at Kailashahar

Date:

Agartala, 27th July 2026 :   The town of Kailashahar witnessed renewed tension on Sunday following the mysterious death of a schoolgirl, as the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) staged a protest march and road blockade demanding justice.

The demonstration, organized by the SFI Kailashahar Sub-Division Committee, began around 10:30 a.m. at Babur Bazar. Alongside SFI activists, students from various schools joined the protest spontaneously, carrying placards and banners. The rally moved through several roads in the Babur Bazar area before protesters occupied the main thoroughfare, disrupting traffic for some time.

Protesters demanded that the true circumstances behind the student’s death be uncovered without delay and that those responsible face exemplary punishment. They alleged that several questions surrounding the incident remain unanswered, urging a transparent and impartial investigation to bring the truth to light.

The program was attended by SFI Kailashahar Sub-Division President Shahabuddin, State Committee member Abdul Samim, and student leaders Pritam Dutta, Sagardweep Malakar, and Rupangan Bajpai, among others.

At the conclusion of the protest, SFI leaders warned that if a fair probe is not conducted and strict action is not taken against the culprits, the organization will escalate its agitation into a larger mass movement in the coming days.
