Agartala, February 24: The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has taken up a project to beautify all the ponds in the city as part of its multi-pronged plans to improve the urban environment and infrastructure. The AMC Mayor Deepak Majumder announced this on Saturday, while inspecting the progress of the beautification work of the Nagerjala Sardar Pond in Agartala.
According to Majumder, the AMC is working on a fast track to beautify many water bodies in the city, which will enhance the aesthetic appeal and ecological balance of the urban landscape. He said that the Chief Minister had inaugurated the beautification of the Milan Chakra, Mantribari Pond, which has an estimated cost of Rs. 1.2 crore.
Majumder also said that the AMC is not only focusing on the beautification of the city, but also on the development of various civic services, such as water supply, drainage, sanitation, street lighting, and solid waste management.
He said that the AMC is expecting to complete and inaugurate the project within the next month. He appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the APC and maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the city.
