Agartala, 9th April 2024 :   In a scathing attack on the Modi-led central government, the All India Krishak Sabha has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of neglecting the interests of 70% of the country’s farmers. Pabitra Kar, the state committee secretary of the organization, made these damning remarks during a press conference held at Melarmath here on Tuesday, igniting a storm of criticism against the government’s agricultural policies.

Kar asserted that despite being in power for a decade, the central government has failed to implement measures beneficial to farmers, leading to a distressing number of suicides within the farming community. He lamented the unfulfilled promises made by the BJP government, emphasizing its failure to address the needs of the people. According to him, various corporate entities have reaped benefits under the BJP’s tenure, while the plight of farmers has worsened.

Highlighting the suffering endured by farmers, Kar emphasized the lack of government support during times of loss, which has contributed to widespread disillusionment among the farming populace. As a consequence, he declared a growing detachment of farmers from the central government in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In a call to action, the All India Krishak Sabha Tripura State Committee, represented by Kar, endorsed specific candidates for the upcoming elections. They urged for the victory of Rajendra Reang in the East Tripura Lok Sabha seat, Asish Kumar Saha in the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat, and CPIM candidate Ratan Das in the 7-Ramnagar assembly constituency’s by-election.
