Two Rohingya, three Indian touths held in Tripura

Agartala, 9th April 2024 :   Amidst the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Tripura Police have arrested two Rohingya nationals and three Indian touts from Uttam Bhakra Chowmuhani in Sepahijala District.

Speaking with reporters, Bishalgarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee said that based on a tip-off, they set up a checkpoint to detain them.

“Today, at our inter-district checkpoint at Uttam Bhakta Naka point, we detained a vehicle based on a tip-off. Upon searching the vehicle, we found two Rohingya nationals and three Indian touts. Preliminary interrogation revealed that they came here for work purposes outside the state,” he said.

The Rohingya nationals were identified as Harul and Md. Jahangir Alam, while the Indian touts were identified as Md. Faruk Mia, Abdul Kasesm, and Robel.
