Agartala, 9th June 2026: The 90th foundation day of the All India Kisan Sabha was observed across Tripura on Tuesday with seminars, discussion meetings, felicitation ceremonies, and press conferences highlighting farmers’ issues and the future course of the organization.
In Sabroom, a special seminar was organized at the CITU Sabroom Sub-divisional office hall around 1 pm. The programme featured discussions on the historic legacy of the farmers’ organization and its future strategies. Addressing the gathering, State Committee Vice-President Narayan Kar and Sabroom Sub-divisional Secretary Subhash Nath stressed the importance of united struggles to safeguard farmers’ rights and tackle the ongoing agrarian crisis. They also reflected on the organization’s long history of movements and campaigns in support of the farming community.
A press conference was held after the seminar, attended by Narayan Kar, South District Committee President Mihir Patari, and Secretary Babul Debnath. The leaders outlined various demands of farmers and discussed future programmes of the organization in response to the prevailing agricultural situation. They called for strengthening the farmers’ movement and expanding the organizational base in the Sabroom subdivision.
Meanwhile, the Mohanpur Divisional Committee of the Kisan Sabha organized a farmers’ discussion meeting and felicitation programme at the CPI(M) party office hall in Kali Bazar under the Bamutia Assembly constituency. The event was attended by State Committee Secretary Pabitra Kar, Nayan Sarkar, Sudip Debnath, Partha Das, and other leaders and activists.
As part of the celebration, sixteen farmers from different areas of the Mohanpur subdivision were felicitated for their contributions to agriculture. Speakers at the programme expressed concern over the reported discontinuation of the Krishak Samman Nidhi scheme and alleged that farmers in Tripura are facing significant hardships under the BJP-led governments in the state and at the Centre. They called for greater support and protection for the farming community while reaffirming the organization’s commitment to farmers’ welfare and rights.
